What Materials Can Be Used in a Custom Elevator?
One of the great things about planning and designing a custom elevator is that it’s, you know, a custom job. You can choose from all types of material. This means different types of wood, metal, leather…you will have options when you choose to design a custom elevator with Artisan Elevators.
You can start with the shape of the elevator. Will this elevator be round or the more traditional box-shaped elevator? Round elevators tend to be the design for vacuum elevators, which have become a popular choice for home elevators for the last several years.
We think about wood when we think about traditional elevators and that’s certainly an option. This includes exotic woods. Some of the exotic woods that can be used in a custom elevator include walnut, oak and mahogany. Of course, the type of wood used for a custom home elevator should be based on the interior design of the home.
There are also different options in terms of using metal or using a combination of wood and metal. Sheet metal is a basic and common option. There are other options, such as copper, bronze and brass.
Many home elevators, especially round vacuum elevators, are using glass (either safety glass or Plexiglas) for the exterior. Glass can also be used for the elevator doors, design panels and walls.
Different material can also be used in the design and creation of the elevator door. There are many different design options for elevator doors.
There are three basic lighting options for the interior of the elevator: recessed ceiling lights, suspended ceiling lights and battery-operated lights with an alarm.
